Wow. If Bush thought that making a speech admitting his responsibility (the first time in 5 years, and I have seen many a cartoon and pundit evoke the image of Hell freezing over) would raise his approval rating, he was wrong.

An excerpt from the Rasmussen page, since it updates every day, and will therefore not say the same thing tomorrow:

Just 35% of Americans now say that the President has done a good or an excellent job of responding to the Hurricane Katrina crisis. That's down from 39% before the speech. (emphasis mine)

Forgive me a smug grin.

It said 53% of Americans feel the world would be a better place if more countries were like theirs. That question is so incredibly vague! Do they mean Mozambique should be more like America? In that case, I agree. Should Saudi Arabia be more like America? Again, probably an improvement. Should Canada, France, Britain, Norway, etc, be more like America? Absolutely not - in fact the opposite is true. So it really depends on your point of view of the world how you answer that question.
